Start-to-Finish Suday #25 - DIY Stamped Background

Happy Sunday, friend! For this week's card I decided to showcase a favorite technique: Creating your own background pattern with non-background stamps. I've also seen a lot of this technique around and about lately. I decided to use the fun pennant/bunting stamp from the Designer Typeset photopolymer stamp set. Triangles are really on-trend, and this stamp creates a great geometric pattern when stamped repeatedly like this.

The video shows how I did the layering on this card. In hindsight, I could have stamped the chevrons and greeting on a Summer Starfruit oval and adhered that to the stamped panel, rather than cutting out a window and putting the Summer Starfruit piece underneath. Oh well. You can check out the video below, or over on my YouTube channel.

Have a great week! Happy Stampin'! :)

Paper Pumpkin 101

Have you met Paper Pumpkin? This is the new monthly kit subscription from Stampin' Up! and it is awesome! The idea is like Cinderella's pumpkin carriage: A little red box arrives on your doorstep once a month to whisk you off for a 30 minute creative escape! :) It could be a set of cards, a home decor item, a journal... Each kit has everything you need for one project. You just need to supply the adhesive.

I made a video that goes over what you need to know before you subscribe. I very highly recommend checking it out! The video also walks you through the Welcome Kit, which is what you'll receive your first month. Sign up by May 10th and you'll get your Welcome Kit in May! If you're interested, you can watch the video below, or over on my YouTube channel. Then head over to the Paper Pumpkin website to sign up!

And since the kit comes with everything you need to complete your project except adhesive, here are some suggestions for the adhesives you may wish to have on hand to complement your Paper Pumpkin subscription.

Happy Stampin'! :)

Start-to-Finish Sunday #24 - Pinwheel Card

I've been wanting to share a card using the Pinwheel Sizzlits die from the Spring Catalog for ages now, and I'm finally getting around to it today! This die is so stinkin' cute... but it's a little tricky to work with, which is why I wanted to use it in a video. I also share how to make those little flags - hint: It's one of my favorite uses of washi tape! :)

Check out the video below, or over on my YouTube channel. This card is kind of involved, but I love the end result, and I share some good tips along the way!

Have a great week. Happy Stampin'! :)

Start-to-Finish Sunday #23 - Dude, You're Welcome Card

If you follow my YouTube channel, you may have seen that I posted an extra video yesterday. My husband made a card using Stampin' Up's "Dude, You're Welcome" kit and filmed the process. So for today's STFS video I decided to use the kit as my inspiration and show a few tips for incorporating the kit contents into your own papercrafting, whether you purchase the kit for a man in your life or you want to grab it for yourself! :)

I used a couple different inspirations in designing this card. One was a recent sketch from Retro Sketches.

You can see I adapted it a little bit, but I really liked the layout! And I was also very inspired by the Color Challenge that Stampin' Up! recently posted.

Basic Gray, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Lucky Limeade! These are some of my favorite colors! :)

So go ahead and check out the video below, or over on my YouTube channel. I hope you find some tips for using this kit in your card making! If you'd like to order it for yourself, or the man in your life, visit my website!

Happy Stampin'! :)
