Start-to-Finish Sunday #17 - Watercolor Butterfly Sympathy Card

Another Sunday is coming to a close. My goodness, the weekends go by fast! Far too fast, if you ask me! This week I wanted to share the Watercolor Background technique - one of my faves and so much fun to do! It makes a mess though, so if you're squeemish about inky hands, you may want to get yourself a pair of gloves. Anyway, I decided to use this technique to make a sympathy card. I was thinking the watercolor look, plus a few simple butterflies, was well suited for this type of card.

The video shows how to make the watercolored panel, plus a little bit of my thought process that went into putting the card together. You can watch it below, or over on my YouTube channel.

Have a great week! Happy Stampin'! :)

Grandma's Get Well Card

Quick post this afternoon to share a card I made last night. Home early today because I had jury duty. Had to sit around until about 1:20 but they ended up not needing me, so I've got a couple free hours at home.

My grandma, who lives in Michigan, had to have coronary bypass surgery last week. She was discharged home this weekend. I wanted to use the adorable bandaid image from the Sale-a-Bration set Patterned Occasions set to make a bright and cheery card to send her. This fun layout - which I never would have come up with on my own! :) - is from the brand new issue of Stampin' Success (our bi-monthly demonstrator magazine) that arrived in my mailbox on Saturday.

Hope you're having a lovely Tuesday!

Happy Stampin'! :)

Not JUST for Valentine's Day!

You may be thinking that, since Valentine's Day is over, it's time to put away your More Amore DSP and your Hearts a Flutter stamp set. But wait - not so fast! :) I've got proof that these seemingly love-centric products aren't just for Valentines!

I was inspired to make this card when Stampin' Up! posted a super cute video recently - One of their employees made a card in My Digital Studio and tossed it into a random order that was on its way to a customer. First of all, is that a super fun idea or what?! :) Wouldn't you just love finding a note from an SU! employee in your order? You can watch the video on the Stampin' Up! Vine site. But the card itself was exactly my style! So I decided to use traditional stamps and paper to make a similar card. And I love how it came out!

One thing I did to add a little interest to this very CAS card was add some texture to the heart punches. I used the same color ink as cardstock ("tone on tone" stamping) and the new Beyond Plaid stamp set to add a little pattern to the punches. I'm loving this set as a simple way to add subtle texture and interest!

So I hope this gives you a little inspiration for how you can continue using your holiday stamp sets year round!

Happy Stampin'! :)
